About Department

Welcome to Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started in the year 2003. It offers one Under-Graduate programme on (B.E in Electrical and Electronics Engineering) and one Post-Graduate programme (M.E. in Power Systems Engineering). It also offers Ph.D. /M.S. (By Research) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

B.E in Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started with an intake capacity of 30 in 2003 and now catering to the growing need of 60 students.

M.E. in Power Systems Engineering was started in 2010 and having an intake capacity of 6 students. The department is recognized as a research centre by Anna University, Chennai for pursuing Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

The Department has qualified faculty members with excellent academic records. The Department is equipped with excellent laboratory facilities since its inspection. The Department has well equipped laboratories such as Electrical Machines laboratory, Power Systems Laboratory, Control Systems laboratory, Electrical Measurements laboratory, Power Electronics & Drives Laboratory, Electrical workshop & Computer laboratory.

The faculty members have strong sense of responsibility to provide the finest possible education for both post graduate and undergraduate students. The academic strength of the faculty is reflected by the alumni, many of whom are in the top echelons of industry and academia both in India and abroad.

The students of this department have secured almost cent percent placement in various high profile companies. Our alumni who have gone on to distinguished careers as innovators in industry, living and working throughout the world, still have corporate and personal ties to the College through recruitment, mentoring, guest lectures, and other interactions.

The Department has been moving forward in achieving academic excellence with a strong commitment and dedicated approach, by clearly setting up of a vision of its own. The initiatives taken have already started yielding excellent results, in terms of research funding and other developmental activities thus keeping us in the path of excellence.

Department Mission

To impart quality education to our students and provide a comprehensive understanding of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and produce a new generation of knowledgeable, skilled, innovative engineers.
To stabilize the students to understand the responsibility as an engineer who prove to be good citizens having concern for society, environment and ethical issues.
To evolve the student community to adapt appropriate sustainable technologies through remarkable contribution for rural needs.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

Graduates of Electrical and Electronics Engineering will

PEO1	To provide students with the knowledge of Basic Sciences in general and Electrical and electronics Engineering in particular so as to acquire the necessary skills for analysis and synthesis of problems in generation, transmission and distribution.
PEO2	To provide technical knowledge and skills to identify, comprehend and solve complex tasks in industry and research and inspire the students to become future researchers / scientists with innovative ideas.
PEO3	To prepare the students for successful employment in various Industrial and Government organizations, both at the National and International level, with professional competence and ethical administrative acumen so as to handle critical situations and meet deadlines.
PEO4	To train the students in basic human and technical communication skills so that they may be good team-members, leaders and responsible citizen.

Programme Outcomes (POs)

The students who have undergone the B.E. programme in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)

PO1	Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2	Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3	Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4	Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5	Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6	The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
PO7	Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

Electric Vehicle Club

Objectives

To develop basic understanding of Electric Vehicles
To develop basic understanding of electric motors, battery technology
To improve management skills by organizing events and working in teams.

Functions of the Electric Vehicle Club

The Electric Vehicle Club is dedicated to educate students about all aspects of electric vehicles through project designs.
By designing, building, testing, and refining electric vehicles, students will gain practical experience and the satisfaction of driving their own creations.
The club motivates the other students to make their project works related to electric vehicles
Since the EV is a need of the hour, this club activities promotes the importance of transformation from IC engines to EV.
This club oraganizes various contests and events within the institution and also for other college students to promote innovative ideas related to EVs.

Photo Club

“The eye should learn to listen before it looks”-Henri Cartier- Bresson
The mission of the Photography Club is to provide a supportive environment for interested photography students to share their Creativity, Knowledge and Passion for Photography
The club will hold regular meetings and discussions and organize events such as photo walks, field trips, Lectures, and workshops by visiting artists
Members will also explore the possible opportunities for photography project in collaboration with other department, organize peer to peer portfolio reviews and explore the possibilities of beauty of nature

Objectives of PHOTO club:

To promote the development of Photographic art and technique by providing opportunities for individual and group tuition and discussion, and the exchange of ideas and information
To provide opportunities to share the experiences and skills of other people by the means of visits by speakers to club
To facilitate specialized training evenings and practical demonstrations of techniques in photography
To discover, develop, edit, deploy and express their creativity in capturing photo & video
To promote the club and the photography of its members by entering Battles and competitions with other clubs and the Welsh photographic honour by individual members

Functions of the PHOTO club:

Train the students in using Graphics &Editing tools and software, this will make them technically competent in the photography world.
We planned to upload photos in our college social media, it has the photo which are all captured by our students.
A cumulative photos will be collected, and the best will be placed in our yearly magazine of our college.
Finally, we planned to give a momentum for best photographer of our Club.
We conducted the workshops and seminar on photography.

Renewable Energy Club

Objectives of Renewable Energy Club:

To Create awareness among the students about the benefit of Renewable energy usage.
To provide students a platform to learn about the energy industry and employment opportunities in renewable energy sectors.
To equip the students with knowledge and skill so that they may become successful professionals and leaders in the energy industry.

Functions of the Renewable Energy Club:

Promoting the objective of energy conservation by organizing events such as discussion, webinars, competitions, debates, workshop etc.
Promote less energy usage among people by cutting down on excessive and wasteful uses.
Encourage people for efficient energy use in order to decrease the energy consumption and prevent energy loss.
Encourage young generation to think of new innovations in the field of alternative energy technology.
Competitions - Organise different competitions on energy conservation.
Organise industrial visits to power industries like co-generation plants, generation plants, substations etc.

Electric Circuits Laboratory

This Lab introduces about the fundamentals of Electrical Circuit theory with emphasis on design and implementation to the students. The lab focuses on verification of theorem.

It consists of different basic electronic devices like BJT, JFET, MOSFET, SCR, UJT etc., for conducting experiments relevant to electrical and electronic devices and circuits. This lab is adequately equipped with major devices for signal generation like function generators, signal generators and measuring devices like Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (CRO), Digital LCR-Q Meter, Decade resistance box, Voltmeters, Ammeters, Wattmeter's, Multi meters etc., There are twelve working tables with single phase supply and two separate three phase connections are available for conducting the three phase experiments.

Control System Laboratory

This Lab introduces about the fundamentals of control systems theory with emphasis on design and implementation to the students. The lab focuses on technical implementation issues of classical control theory in the frequency domain and modern control theory in the state-space. Design and implementation of control theory is done using MATLAB software with control system toolbox to undergo the experiments like open loop and closed loop system. The lab was well furnished with the equipment like AC and DC Servomotor, Synchros, position control system, Controller design kit, The lab is also equipped with sufficient number of CROs, Digital storage oscilloscopes etc.
