About Department

The Department of Biotechnology was established in 2002 with the objective to provide excellence in academics and believes in the holistic development of the students. The Department is offering UG (B.Tech. - Biotechnology) and PG (M.Tech. - Biotechnology) courses. The prime target is to encourage students to reach the pinnacle of success by providing quality education. Supported with dynamic and focused curriculum, well-trained biotechnologists are raised to suit academia/industry/research perspectives. The Department also focuses on inculcating ethical and moral values to the students.

The curriculum framed by the department integrates all level of biological Sciences with a quantitative, systems-oriented engineering analysis and blended approach that helps to make our students capable to manage industrial and academic problems at professional levels. Research and design thinking being the prerequisites for a successful career in biotechnology is very well promoted and practiced in the department. The department has well qualified faculty with technically sound knowledge and research experiences in thrust areas of Biotechnology / Biological Sciences. The faculty is efficiently involved with their students to enhance their practical knowledge to inculcate both basic and applied research in diverse areas.

Highly competent industry-oriented academics engaged in the interdisciplinary growth of the technology, the department strives in imparting quality technical education and research in advanced emerging areas of Industrial, Medical, pharmaceutical and food applications of Biotechnology.

Program Educational Objectives
PEO1 The ability to provide the students with a solid foundation and the ability to apply mathematics, science in Biotechnology and to analyze data and technical concepts for application in Quality assurance and enabling placements/higher education.
PEO2 An ability to inculcate the professional and ethical attitudes, effective communication skills, team work skills, multidisciplinary approach among the students and an ability to relate environmental issues in broader social context.
PEO3 To provide with an excellent training to enhance the core profession career in the field of agriculture, pharmaceutics, biochemical, food tech and other allied biosciences.
Biotechnology Program Objectives
PO1 Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2 Problem analysis: An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
PO3 An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
